OUR CHICKEN
100% ECC COMPLIANT IN GERMANY

We take responsibility. For higher animal welfare in chicken farming.

For our chicken, we deliberately go beyond legal farming requirements by providing more space and more time for healthy development. It is our contribution to a more sustainable future and a promise to our guests, because true enjoyment begins with respect – for nature, for animals and for our shared responsibility.

PIONEERS IN CHICKEN WELFARE

As early as 2020, we joined the European Chicken Commitment and committed ourselves to meeting its requirements by 2026. We achieved this goal ahead of schedule: since October 2024, all of the chicken served in our restaurants in Germany and Austria has come exclusively from ECC-compliant suppliers.

MORE SPACE

The stocking density of our chickens never exceeds 30 kg per square metre, which corresponds to approximately 12–15 fully grown chickens per square metre. By comparison, legislation allows up to 39 kg per square metre. This gives the animals significantly more space and allows them to behave more naturally.

SLOWER GROWTH

We deliberately use slower-growing chicken breeds to reduce health problems that are common in fast-growing breeds. While conventional breeds reach maturity after around 25–32 days, our chickens are given approximately 52–68 days to develop as naturally and healthily as possible.

ENRICHMENT
Our chickens are raised in barns with natural daylight, allowing them to follow a natural day-and-night rhythm. Pecking objects, enrichment materials and perches encourage natural behaviour and improve animal welfare. The use of cages is strictly prohibited.
FEWER MEDICATIONS
Thanks to slower-growing breeds and improved living conditions, farming-related illnesses are significantly reduced. As a result, the use of antibiotics is greatly minimized.
ORIGIN
Our chickens are raised exclusively in Germany, specifically in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein.
SLAUGHTERING
Our chickens are processed using modern animal welfare standards. Practices such as live shackling while hanging upside down are strictly prohibited, ensuring the animals experience as little stress as possible.
